QMHE 2015

Okay, pics undercontrol - started uploading pics of the QMHE 2015 show.

Gundam Australia Forum Group Build 2015

Gundam Australia Forum is one of several online groups I hang out at.

We are primarily Australian focused group, but have members from all over the world.

A group build we do each year, is associated with QMHE Expo, held in Queensland each year.  The idea being, we enter a specific category with a specific them.

This year was Gundam Zeon Mechs.  It had to be modified so we could enter the Mech-2 Category.
The main theme was Russian Aircraft colour - the group settled on 3 tone blue.

so here is my entry - Z'Gok modified with Anti air and gattling gun

Blog Images

G'day everyone,

apologies for the images not working - i've recently started using Google Drove to host my files, instead of PhotoBucket.
Google Drive has a share link, however it doesn't appear to work after I have finished updating the blog - works fine while I'm editing.
Anyone, images updating shortly.

Zaku Diorama

One of the models, I put into the QMHE 2015 comp.

I called it Attack from the Water.
It was originally meant to be an attack on a BanDai building, however I didn't think anyone would get the subtle joke - BanDai Zaku kits attacking BanDai HQ ... sick I know.
So I changed it.

A few pics to wet your pallet ..

Revell - What are you doing ?

I've just heard - Revell/Disney have enforced the licensing of Star Wars products.
What this means is BanDai Japan, cannot have kits sold to overseas customers (outside Asia).  Revell has the licensing rights for Europe and America.

So the BanDai kits are now no longer available - sad day for the hobby.  Australia (my experience) has a hard time as it is, getting SciFi kits into the country, so we buy online.  Now we can't buy what we want online.
BanDai does has an Australia distributor - but they aren't listing any Star Wars kits and are usually twice the cost as a minimum, compared to overseas retailers ...

Weird Streak - Redback on the Toilet Seat

okay, this is a weird build - first off, I'll answer the question, why that subject.

I built it specifically for the Best Australia subject in the QMHE Model Comp.
Plus, why not - who else has done something like this ?

So, Redback on the Toilet seat is a diorama of the old Aussie Thunderbox (outside toilet).
Redback on the Toilet seat is an Aussie poem - so building the Outhouse/Thunderbox was just something I thought I'd try.

The scene is based on childhood memories - wood pile close by, cattle fence, etc.  There was going to be a Redbelly Black snake near the fence, but it didn't look right.

Entirely scratchbuilt - everygreen, balsa wood, DAS clay, diorama scenery material.

So, here it is a quick photo of the RedBack on the Toilet Seat.

1/35 Anzac diggers

a quick pic of the dio in work for the Anzac diggers

This is meant to be a trench in Gallipoli.
Round MDF base with Foam board glued on.  DAS clay covers the entire area and sifted sand glued to the DAS.
Tuffs of grass come from Minature range of diorama material - the small fence is evergreen strips and wooden match sticks, painted and weathered with Humbrol Weathering powders.
There is some sandbags made from Epoxy putty, but those are hidden behind the closed mound ... The picture on the right is from an early photo session, before I added in the sandbags ...

Long time, no update

Sorry people,

I have been slack and done no updates either here or on my YouTube channel for some time.

No empty promises, I just have to get in an upload content and videos.

Just a few events that have come and gone.

ICM have release a WWI Diggers figures kit in 1:35 scale.
I've brought 2 of these, built one set up in a small diorama and the other is on the shelf.
I have a kit review to post on youtube.

QMHE (Queensland Model and Hobby Expor) has come and gone.   This is a major Model event for Queensland.
This year, it was relocated to new larger facilities.  I also joined the committee as an assistant.  My recommendation to anyone, join one of these events - they are busy but enjoyable.
We had record crowds this year, due in part to new facilities and marketing.  We had support from the local Council.
Model Comp entries were down on previous years, however we still had over 400 entries ...

Bandai - this is old news to many, have released Star Wars model kits.
There are some kits of the new Ep7 X-Wings and Tie fighters, however I am not aware of International online model shops selling them - it appears only available in Domestic Japan.
Revell is also tooling up with a similar range of kits.  Revell also appears to have the FineMolds molds for the 1/48 X-Wing and the 1/72 Falcon - both have been released.

This is just a quick update - more to follow
